After spending the last several years writing lyrics as a songwriter for other artists and trying to make connections in the industry primarily as a lyricist I finally decided to shoot my shot as an artist! At age 58 I’m releasing my debut album on my birthday! I think this album has a little something for everyone… Traditional country, oulaw country, southern rock, Americana, a little rockin’ Red Dirt, and I even channel my inner Michael Buble’ on one. This album would never have happened without the unconditional love and support from my wife Whitney. I never wrote a single song until this beautiful lady came into my life in 2012.
I’ve had some success in the Texas market with ten radio singles as a writer for several artists, I have a few more songs coming out with Texas artists in 2026!
My original longtime co-write partner is Nash Stanley from Gaspe, Quebec in Canada. Nash and I kind of work like Bernie Taupin and Elton John. I’d send Nash song lyrics and in a few days he would send me back acoustic/vocal demos and we started pitching songs to Nashville song pluggers, labels and publishers since 2021. Nash recorded three of those songs at Rosewood Studios, Tyler, TX and released them to radio and streaming using Powerhouse Promotions. So Bar So Good, Catch and Release, and Let’Em Talk all charted well on Texas and American Country Music Charts. Nash has several songwriter credits on this album.
I started a rewarding songwriting relationship with Cherise Carver in 2023 and we have one release together, a duet with Nash Stanley, called Running Out Of Next Times. That song rode both the Texas and American Country Music Charts AND was nominated for a Josie Music Award in the Music Event category. I’ve probably learned more about songwriting from Cherise than any other writer I’ve worked with. Best advice- Write the song so well that you can close your eyes while listening and see the music video playing in your head! Cherise has songwriter credit on the song Teach Me on this album. She is also responsible for my cut called Give Up Thinking on the Chaser Crouch album.
In 2024 I began working as a writer with Texas artist April N. Smith. We clicked well. Our first song together called Broke My Rose Colored Glasses had a long run on the Texas Country and American Country Music Charts AND was nominated for a Josie Music Award in the category of Female Country Song Of The Year. Our second release, Never Fought Harder, had an incredible run on several prominent music charts. I anticipate this song will be a nominee for a Josie Music Award in 2026. In January of 2026 April began recording our next single, This Though, and is scheduled for a Valentine’s Day release! April is also responsible for connecting me with Gabe Choate and getting the song Solving Love’s Rhyme as a cut on his upcoming album.
Dusty Moats, the man behind Powerhouse Promotions and 2025 Josie Music Award winner for Male Country EP of the Year in 2025, included me as a writer on his 2025 song release for Somebody Else’s Problem. I can’t say enough good things about Dusty and his hard work in pushing out music for the artists in his Powerhouse Family. His friendship, advice, and leadership is truly a blessing. His industry knowledge and experience is incredibly helpful.
